Orange County resident wins $2.08 million on Powerball ticket in holiday draw
Anaheim, California – A lottery player in Orange County won $2.08 million on a Powerball ticket. The ticket was purchased at Donut Storr in Anaheim and matched five out of the six numbers during the Christmas night draw, narrowly missing the Powerball number itself.
Although the ticket did not win the $638 million jackpot, the $2.08 million prize still marks a significant and life-changing win for the lucky individual. The numbers that transformed fortune on Monday night were 5, 12, 20, 24, 29, and 4. This draw saw over 141,000 winning Powerball tickets sold across California, highlighting the widespread anticipation and participation in the lottery during the festive season.
The Powerball jackpot remains elusive, with no winners for Monday’s draw, leading to a rollover that increases the jackpot to an estimated $685 million for Wednesday night’s draw. This continues a streak of 32 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner since the last win on October 11, when a ticket from Frazier Park secured a $1.765 billion grand prize. The winner of that monumental prize has yet to come forward.
This ongoing series of draws without a jackpot winner follows the record-setting win of the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, amounting to $2.04 billion, won by Edwin Castro with a single Powerball ticket in California on November 7, 2022.
Lottery winners have a grace period of 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prizes, with the exception of Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots, which offer a one-year deadline for claiming the grand prize.
